Musings from a self-confessed tv addict
This semester just started and I am already sick of it. The classes aren't hard--it's just that they are so boring. With the exception of Bowling, my American Studies class, and my online Rock & Roll class, the other 3 classes have that been there, done that kind of feel to them. Perhaps the senioritis is kicking in a little late, even though I'm not really having a problem doing the work for the classes. I remember senior year in high school...especially second semester, when you knew already that you got into a school, but you still had to stick it out. It sucked. Thankfully the atmosphere here is so much better.
It is really hard to believe that this whole college thing is almost over. I swear I just started. It has been so much better than I ever thought it would be, but it was also pretty rough--at least at the beginning. Attempting to get through those science classes, doing the whole switch the major routine, and forgetting about the med school route was a challenge, but I think it has worked out for the best. I've kind of lost interest in the English classes, but the 4 American Studies classes I have taken/am taking have been fantastic. If I had taken one freshman or sophomore year, I might have been an American Studies major with English as the minor. Oh well...no use now.
Television has returned!
Oh, and by the way...the Golden Globes flat out rocked. Out of the twenty or so awards they handed out, I predicted correctly on all but 5 of them. Not too shabby. The Hugh Laurie and Geena Davis speeches were by far the best. If you missed it, Hugh claimed to have written all of the people who needed to be thanked on tiny pieces of paper in the car on the way to the awards. He announced that he would randomly pick three from the 142 (I think that's how many there were) pieces that he stuffed in his pocket and those would be the people that he would thank. Geena Davis told the crowd that an 8-year-old stopped her on her way inside saying "It's because of you that I want to be President." She had the whole audience going and they all mouthed a collective "Awwww." It was adorable. But then she said..."Well that didn't really happen." Hilarious. These people really know how to put on a show. If only they could inject this excitement into the Academy Awards.
So I still watch The Bachelor. Yeah, I know they hardly ever end up lasting once the show is over, but what can I say? I'm a hopeless (or maybe overly hopeful) romantic. This season finds The Bachelor and his ladies in Paris. Oooh la la. Of course the drama is still there, but this Bachelor is quite the catch. They call him a real life Dr. McDreamy.

Travis Stork, an ER doc from Nashville, Tennessee, and I have to admit he is quite dreamy. Although on the video recap for last week's episode, he might have said "love connection" one too many times. I like the chances of Sarah from Tennessee and Susan from Kansas winning. We'll see.
Oh and Lost. My goodness. Probably the best episode since the premiere. The wit with Sawyer and the others was just superb this week. As serious as the episode was, our Lost group laughed more than we ever had during an episode. If you're as big a fan of TV as I am, then you should definitely check out Kristin's column over at E! Her columns are great and the scoops and spoilers are always exciting. In one of her posts for instance, she solved the mystery of where Walt is. That's right. Check this out
Walt can be found in the top right-hand corner once you enlarge the pic.
Grey's Anatomy. That's all I need to say about that. If you are not watching it, then you aren't my friend. I am so in love with George. He's just too cute and needs some loving stat!
American Idol gave me a bit of a headache when it premiered on Tues. Of course there were the few good singers, but we all know how these audition rounds work. They only show us maybe 10 of the really good singers and all of the others are tossed on the editing room floor until we get to the top 12. So how do they make the episodes drag on for 2 hours--they show the ugly, the horrible, the oh my gosh, I can't believe they think they can sing contestants. Please let's get to Hollywood already.
And finally, to round out this post, a message to all the people giving the Panthers 0 chance tomorrow against the Seahawks. You know they only play better when you make them the underdogs. It is going to be a hard game, I will give them that. With Foster out with a broken ankle, and Peppers questionable with his shoulder injury, Goings is going to have to step up and and Smith and Delhomme are going to have to play the kind of game that legends are made of. Broncos-Panthers Super Bowl. Please!
